INFLUENCE IN SOCIALIZATION
- Individual acquires/internalizes norms, attitudes, values of society, personality is formed, also, affected by whom they interact
- FAMILY carries the greater responsibility in socialization; child most influential social group
- In family, children receive earliest training in proper behavior
- It is in the family where they first develop personality and character
- Parents are morally and legally bound to take care of children and impact to their ethical values, norms, standards of conduct in society
- Parents are obliged to support child in balanced diet, adequate clothing, sufficient shelter, proper medical attention, and education
- Parents should give child affection, companionship, understanding, extend the benefits of moral guidance, self-discipline, religious instruction
- Parents primary right and obligation to provide for the upbringing of the child and to discipline as maybe necessary for the formation of his good character
- Parents are dedicated to child-rearing not only because of genuine love but because of community expectations and legal prescription
- Mother is most have childcare responsibility
- Mother today no longer confine at home but they are also breadwinners
- When a mother have job, it can result to child’s neglect and emotional deprivation, but research are not fully supported this empirically
- Not the time she spent with child that counts but the relationship she establishes and adequacy of care she provides
- Advantage of mother’s absence is to loosen child’s dependency
- Child who belongs to dual-rearing express high degrees of confidence, resourcefulness and independence
- Maternal employment has positive effects if it is appreciated and viewed as need
- Family fulfills its function as educator in moral values is reflected in society as a whole
- It is in the family where child learn to practice patience and forgiveness; learns meaning of authority and trust; shed his selfishness; concern for others etc.
- “AN OUNCE OF EXAMPLE IS WORTH A TON OF PREACHMENT”, meaning, children watch parents live and what ARE they, shouts louder than anything they say
